I wanted to ask these questions against a backdrop of our scene,” Boogie said. “I wanted to look into what it means to sacrifice your life for your dreams,” writer/producer Brendan Boogie said ahead of the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival screening at the Brattle Theatre on Saturday afternoon. But watching wannabe rock stars and childish adults knock around the ideas for 100 minutes makes for a good time. The Boston indie film doesn’t provide answers - even the Steely Dan question goes unresolved. ‘The Mayor of Rock & Roll” ponders big questions: Is rock ’n’ roll real life? What does it mean to sell out? Is Steely Dan’s music truly terrible?
